Specifying a Nano subsea sensor-to-cable interface
Define the compact subsea connection, wiring and cable route as part of the sensor assembly.
Identify the connector rather than just its size
Record the exact Nano connector reference, gender and contact arrangement. A small surface industrial connector is not a substitute for a defined subsea interface. Use the approved mating drawing to confirm the connector and cable assembly pairing.
Make the wiring schedule unambiguous
State the connector face view used for pin numbering, each contact’s function and any unused positions. Carry this through to conductor identification at the control end. Include lock or retention details and installed clearance for mating and removal.
Information to include in your enquiry
Use the following checklist to capture the configuration. Where a value or drawing is not available, identify it as an open requirement for the engineering review.
| Requirement | What to record |
|---|---|
| Sensor | Exact product and connector reference |
| Mating half | Connector gender, contacts and approved interface |
| Wiring | Pin number, function and conductor identification |
| Installation | Cable route, strain relief, retention and service clearance |
Confirm the complete configuration
Confirm the final part and assembly numbers, documentation revision and agreed acceptance requirements with the quotation. Product imagery is useful for identifying the concept; approved drawings and configuration-specific records define the supplied assembly.
Nano M12 switch: identify the complete interface
The DL-PS-B33-1A-NAN6-SS uses a six-pin male Nano subsea connector on a 316L stainless-steel switch body, with a titanium connector body. Its output is a volt-free SPDT contact arrangement. The target magnet and mating cable are separate supply items. The switch does not require an external power supply to operate its contacts.
| Pin | Cable colour | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black | Common |
| 2 | White | Not used |
| 3 | Red | Normally open |
| 4 | Green | Not used |
| 5 | Orange | Normally closed |
| 6 | Blue | Not used |
Specification questions
What should I provide to start an engineering review?
Send the application and movement description, environmental conditions, control-system interface and any existing drawings or part references. Include the required cable route and the points that still need to be resolved.
Does an M12 housing thread mean an industrial M12 electrical connector?
No. M12 × 1.0 describes the switch mounting thread here. The electrical connection is the Nano six-pin subsea interface. Specify the mating connector by its exact interface and pin assignment, rather than by the housing thread.
