Seatools Proxis subsea proximity sensor alternatives
Explore a DepthLink solution for submerged position monitoring, from discrete open/closed detection to a separately specified linear position transmitter. Share your existing Seatools Proxis reference and the signal your control system expects.

Separate a switching point from a measurement signal.
The Proxis family covers different output and sensing arrangements, including switching, PNP/NPN and proportional-output models. A dry-contact switch cannot be treated as a direct replacement for a powered or analogue sensor.
Output and control input
Identify dry contacts, PNP/NPN or an analogue signal, including supply voltage and the control input. A change of output may require control-system changes.
Target, range and mounting
Provide the target material, required gap, flush or non-flush mounting and surrounding metalwork. Do not infer sensing distance from a similar sensor diameter.
Equipment duty
For hatches, gates or dredging equipment, include immersion conditions, mechanical movement, vibration and cable routing. State whether you need a discrete position or continuous displacement.
Compare the installed requirement with the proposed solution.
Use these six checks to identify what can stay and what needs changing. These are selection routes, not verified part-for-part equivalents.
| Selection point | Record from the installed equipment | DepthLink route and practical difference |
|---|---|---|
| Sensing action | Target material, approach direction, operating gap and release point. | Nano M12 uses a target magnet; approximately 12 mm with the optional MT-01. A plain metal target is not equivalent. |
| Mounting envelope | Thread and pitch, mounting drawing, sensing-face location and space for mating and removing the cable. | Select the body and connector together. A similar thread diameter does not establish identical fit or sensing position. |
| Electrical output | Dry contact, PNP/NPN or proportional output; supply and the controller input. | Nano is a dry-contact switching route. Continuous actuator stroke feedback uses a separate linear-position arrangement, not a direct proximity-distance substitute. |
| Connector and wiring | Exact mating-half reference, keying, contact arrangement, pin functions, sealing and cable termination. | Nano, Micro Straight, Micro 90° and Circular describe distinct interfaces. Review the actual mating pair and pinout; matching pin count alone is insufficient. |
| Wetted materials | Body, connector shell, mounting, target carrier, cable jacket and seal requirements. | Review the complete wetted assembly against seawater exposure and neighbouring materials. A connector material does not describe the whole switch body. |
| Pressure and immersion | Operating pressure/depth, temperature, continuous immersion and any required test evidence. | Nano M12 stainless-steel configuration: 700 bar external pressure, approximately 7,000 m seawater. Agree the complete switch, mating connector and cable duty. |

Before choosing an alternative
Is a Nano M12 an alternative to every Proxis sensor?
No. Its magnetic target and dry-contact output suit a defined switching task. Powered PNP/NPN or proportional measurement applications need a separate sensor and control-interface review.
What if I need continuous cylinder position?
DepthLink offers a linear position transmitter product route for cylinder and actuator stroke monitoring. It is a separate measurement arrangement, not a drop-in replacement for a proximity distance sensor.
DepthLink is an independent supplier. Seatools / Proxis names identify the existing equipment or requirement; no affiliation, endorsement or automatic interchangeability is implied.
