Subsea Depth & Pressure Sensors

A compact absolute-pressure sensor for submerged equipment, ROVs and installation monitoring. Water pressure enters a protected sensing port; the signal reaches your controller through a Micro circular subsea connector mounted directly on the rear.

Custom mounting, materials and supporting cable assemblies.

OUTPUT SELECTION

Pressure measured. Depth calculated.

Select a pressure range close to the working duty with suitable headroom. The controller or digital sensor converts pressure to depth using a surface reference, water density and gravity. A larger pressure range is not automatically a better depth sensor.

DL-D-A

4–20 mA pressure

For analogue control inputs

A two-wire pressure transmitter with factory-set full scale. The PLC applies the surface offset and pressure-to-depth conversion.

DL-D-D

RS-485 pressure & depth

For vehicle control and logging

Digital pressure feedback for vehicle control and logging. Depth is calculated using the surface pressure reference and water density; agree where conversion takes place in the control system.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

From the sensing point to your controls.

01

Water → sensing port

Local water pressure reaches a protected isolation diaphragm through the nose.

02

Pressure → electrical signal

A compensated sensing element produces an analogue or digital pressure measurement.

03

Pressure → depth

Subtract the surface pressure and apply a density/gravity model; log pressure alongside the calculated depth.

Where to use it.

ROV depth feedback

Provide depth information for monitoring or control. Specify update rate, latency and the pressure range around the vehicle’s actual operating envelope.

Submerged lifts & gates

Monitor immersion or local water level. Depth feedback complements position switches; it does not directly prove mechanical position or lock engagement.

Deployment & installation

Track pressure during lowering of skids and instruments. A pressure sensor measures depth below the water surface, not altitude above the seabed.

The range code identifies the measurement span, not a certified housing depth rating. The MC-M code identifies the rear Micro male interface; contact allocation and mating connector reference are included in the configuration drawing.

Your questions answered.

Why offer several pressure ranges?

Accuracy stated as a percentage of full scale becomes a larger absolute error as the selected range increases. A shallower range can give more useful accuracy for shallow installations.

Does temperature compensation also measure seawater temperature?

Not necessarily. Internal temperature used to compensate the pressure element may differ from ambient water temperature. Use the separate temperature sensor, or qualify a dedicated external probe for a combined instrument.

Can it measure seabed clearance?

No. Pressure gives depth below the surface. Seabed clearance needs an altimeter or other distance-measuring instrument.
