Plan the clearance around a Micro Low Profile cable
Micro Low Profile connections are a route to consider where the available installation envelope is constrained. Assess the mounted connection and cable route together: the connector’s shape alone does not describe the space the finished assembly needs.
- Measure the available space
- Supply a section drawing showing the mounting surface, surrounding structure and maximum permitted height. Include access for mating, retention and servicing.
- Set the cable-exit direction
- Show where the cable must turn and where it can be supported. Specify fixed or moving service and the routing constraints so that the selected cable’s permitted bend can be checked.
- Resolve the termination and wiring
- Provide both equipment interfaces, pin functions and the required length. If replacing a lead, include the original drawing; a lower-profile connection should not be assumed to preserve the old pinout or assembly rating.
How should I state the cable length?
Use a sketch to identify the measurement endpoints, such as connector faces or a defined free-end termination. Include route allowance and service movement separately, so the quoted length and the installation requirement are unambiguous.
