Custom subsea cable assemblies

Compare single-ended, double-ended and switch cable assemblies. Specify subsea connectors, cable length, wiring and terminations for your custom solution.

CHOOSE THE CONNECTION

Which subsea cable assembly do you need?

Start with what sits at each end. Then define the cable route and operating conditions. A custom underwater cable assembly brings the connector, cable and termination together as one specified connection.

Single-ended assembly

Connect a subsea instrument to a junction box or equipment termination.

Specify: Connector at one end; specify the free-end conductor preparation, shielding and termination.

Double-ended assembly

Connect two defined underwater interfaces with a removable lead.

Specify: Confirm both mating halves, pin assignments, cable length and connector orientation.

Proximity switch cable

Carry position-switch signals from a valve, actuator or submerged mechanism.

Specify: Match the switch connection, contact arrangement and control-system wiring.

Custom cable or harness

Combine instruments, adapt a cable route or integrate an unusual equipment interface.

Specify: Provide a wiring diagram, branch lengths, mounting constraints and installation duty for review.

How to specify a custom subsea cable assembly

A connector family is only the starting point. Use this brief to define a complete cable assembly for underwater instruments, actuators or control equipment.

End-to-end interface
Supply the part numbers or drawings for both mating interfaces. Define gender, contact count, keying, pin assignment and whether mating occurs wet or dry.
Cable construction
Describe the signal or power duty, conductor requirements, shielding, jacket exposure and any data transmission requirements.
Length & movement
Give the installed length, routing, bend constraints, strain relief, movement cycles and any branched or coiled sections.
Operating environment
State immersion duration, operating pressure, temperature, water chemistry and potential abrasion. Confirm the complete assembly for these conditions.
Termination & acceptance
Define free-end preparation or the second connector, identification, drawings, inspection and the testing or documentation your project requires.

Underwater cable assembly questions

What is the difference between a wet-mate and dry-mate connection?

Wet-mate and dry-mate describe the permitted mating conditions of a specified connector. Underwater operation does not automatically mean a connector can be connected or disconnected underwater. Confirm the mating procedure for the chosen interface.

Can the connector, cable length and free end be customised?

Provide the required interfaces, installed length, cable duty and termination drawing. These form the configuration brief; the final construction and availability are confirmed during engineering review and quotation.

Can one assembly combine a position switch and subsea cable?

Yes. Start with the switch output and mating interface, then specify pin assignment, cable length, routing and the control-system termination. This avoids treating the sensor and cable as unrelated selections.

Can you replace an existing manufacturer’s cable assembly?

Provide the exact part number, drawings, mating-part information and operating duty. Matching appearance or contact count is not sufficient: interface, electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements must be checked before a replacement is confirmed.

PRODUCT + APPLICATION ENGINEERING

Custom underwater cable assemblies, configured for your installation.

Specify the whole connection: single-ended or double-ended subsea cable assemblies, proximity switch leads and custom harness requirements. Cable construction, connector interfaces, length, pin assignment and termination must suit the equipment and operating environment.
